  • You do not need a permit to buy a handgun or a long arm. However, to buy a rifle or shotgun, you must be at least 18, and to buy a handgun, you must be at least 21.
  • You do not have to register handguns or long arms.
  • You do not need an owner’s license for firearms.
  • As long as you have a permit, you can carry concealed in the state of Texas.
  • Texas observes the “Castle Doctrine,” which essentially states that if you are the resident of a dwelling/home, you are permitted to use deadly force to protect yourself against an unlawful or forced intrusion. This is something that particularly pertains to individuals who are looking to simply defend their homes from unwanted intruders in the age of the coronavirus.
